A Sailor Me

The Thinking Reeds

The Thinking Reeds deal in affairs of the heart and deliver bare knuckle love for forlorn melancholics. Our pain fits us like a glove, a tailor made barrier to love.

During summer 2005 The Thinking Reeds took up residency amongst the trees and critters of the English county of Lincolnshire. Here they learned to identify bird song and stayed warm by burning the troubles and angers collected on the long voyage. They also unpacked their crumbling recording devices, known collectively as the Rec-O-Matic. The faded heart was unwrapped and placed firmly on the sleeve.

It was cheaper to make the album than stay in therapy.

With the help of Maverick record producer Lance Thomas (PJ Harvey/ Ladytron/ China Crisis etc) the songs became an album. With the instruments in the Parlour, the machines in the Butlers Pantry and a well stocked drinks cabinet in between, the journey was recorded.

Mixed at APE studios in Cheshire & mastered by the legendary Jon Astley (The Who/ Led Zeppelin etc) the classic sound is the perfect cushion to the broken hearted lyrical and vocal performances. It may not be fashionable to care but it still makes for a great record.
